What happens when you cross Van Halen with the Sex Pistols, you get one of the greatest and sleaziest bands that emerged from the upstart Los Angeles rock scene in the eighties appropriately known as "Motley Crue". Formed in 1981 when bassist Nikki Sixx and drummer Tommy Lee saw an ad for a "Lewd, Rude and Aggressive" guitarist named Mick Mars and recruited Lee’s high school classmate Vince Neil from the band Rock Candy, the Crue was born. Motley Crue was probably the most recognized and popular hard rock band from the early eighties to nineties with multi-platinum albums Too Fast for Love, Shout at the Devil, Theatre of Pain, Girls, Girls, Girls and Dr. Feelgood and along with their much publicized off stage antics the Crue was a rock and roll force. In 1992 when vocalist Vince Neil was asked to leave the band, Motley Crue decided to keep the bands name alive with new vocalist/guitarist John Corabi but coupled with the absence of Neil and the fall of the Metal scene to the Grunge bands, Motley’s next and only album with Corabi, the self entitled "Motley Crue", was a commercial disaster. In 1997 Corabi left Motley Crue and Vince Neil returned to release the album Generation Swine, while not a commercial success the album was probably Motley’s, musically, best album. In 1999 frustrated drummer and founding member Tommy Lee left to pursue other musical ventures and was replaced by former Ozzy Osbourne drummer Randy Castillo. Motley Crue released "New Tattoo" and a live album in 2000 and continue to leave their scare on the body of Rock and Roll.
